Locations in fabric provide a centralized way to manage store and warehouse information. Each location contains essential information, such as an address, operating schedule, support for scheduled closures, and capacity limits to ensure efficient operations. You can also define custom attributes to capture unique location-specific data, tailoring the system to your needs.

Key Features

• Operating Schedules: Allows businesses to define a location’s operating hours, including separate schedules for in-store operations and curbside pickup. It also supports scheduled closures to ensure accurate order fulfillment availability.
• Capacity Limits: Set optional limits on the number of orders or inventory allocations a location can process simultaneously. This helps manage workload and prevent overcommitment.
• Custom Attribute Support: Allows businesses to assign custom attributes to locations, such as region, fulfillment priority, or special handling requirements. This helps optimize order routing and supports network-based fulfillment rules.

Use Case

Scheduled closures

During the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, several retail locations and fulfillment centers in the area experience road closures, heavy foot traffic, and restricted access. To prevent inventory allocation requests and order fulfillment delays, scheduled closures are set up for affected locations. This ensures that online orders are automatically rerouted to other nearby stores or distribution centers that remain accessible. For example, a store in Midtown Manhattan might be temporarily unavailable for fulfillment, redirecting orders to a warehouse in New Jersey instead. This prevents logistical bottlenecks, ensures accurate delivery timelines, and allows local store staff to focus on in-person customers attending the event.
